Menudo Drops "AMNESIA"  Much before New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, 98 Degrees and One Direction were even a thought in the minds of their creators, Menudo exploded onto the pop music scene, capturing the hearts of music fans across generations in the US and Latin America and ranked as one of the biggest boy bands of all time – and the only Latin group on the list – in Billboard, US Weekly, Seventeen, Teen Vogue magazines among other influential publications. Formed in Puerto Rico in 1977, Menudo became one of the most popular teenage music groups of the 1980s and 1990s, selling over 20 million records and releasing 34 albums and 24 singles from their inception until 2009. As older members reached a certain age, new ones would join the group, and along the way, the group opened the doors to future Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning superstars Ricky Martin and Draco Rosa, both members in the mid-1980s. Now, thanks to a passionate team that includes veteran music industry executive Paul Tarnopol (President of Menudo Productions, based in Miami) and a television personality (and huge Menudo fan since childhood!) Mario Lopez, Menudo is back with a more dynamic lineup of five singers, dancers, performers and multifaceted personalities. After an extensive audition process that began with 600 video submissions of performances from boys and in-person auditions in Puerto Rico (briefly interrupted by Hurricane Irene), Los Angeles and Miami, it's time to meet Gabriel Rossell (15), Andrés Emilio (15), Alejandro Querales (16), Ezra Gilmore (14) and Nicolás Calero (12), who collectively form the new generation of Menudo. Although the original open call for online video submissions requested an age range of 12-16, the team was so impressed by Nicolas's abundance of talent that they made an exception. The five were chosen from the Miami auditions, and Lopez was personally the one to give each boy the good news. Menudo has been an inescapable and exciting presence in pop culture since "The Big Reveal" on March 20, when the group performed their infectious, energetic and highly danceable single in English and Spanish "Mi Amore" (released that same day) on Good Morning America on the ABC network after an introduction by Lopez. They followed up with LIVE performances on Kelly and Ryan, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Access Hollywood and various shows on the Hispanic networks Univision and Telemundo including Despierta America, HOYDIA, En Casa con Telemundo among others. "Deciding between the five finalists was harder than we imagined because there was so much talent to choose from," says Lopez. "The five boys we selected have bonded instantly, and the music they've created has exceeded all our expectations. I believe we have several massive hits on our hands, and I was honored and beyond excited to introduce these boys to the world." The members of Menudo have insightful thoughts on what makes the chemistry between them work so well. Nicolas says, "Our friendship has had a lot of opportunities to grow because we're together having fun and working four to six hours every day." Andrés adds, "We all have a great work ethic and are dedicated to improving our singing, dancing and acting skills every day. All of this is valuable to us because we all want to have long careers making music." Ezra points out that, "We're all very different, and opposites attract. We're not the same, but we all like the same things. We realize that we wouldn't have met if it wasn't for Menudo. Like all brothers, we sometimes get along and sometimes fight, but it all comes from a spirit of love and commitment to our passion for music." Alejandro adds that "in addition to the incredible camaraderie with the others, one of the most special aspects of having the honor of continuing the Menudo legacy is meeting so many wonderful and talented people who are committed to helping us grow as artists." Gabriel is "very excited about our future, not only for the great music we're making, but for the opportunity to perform and share these experiences with my wonderful new friends and fans." **Paul Tarnopol has been at the forefront of music marketing, distribution, technology and record label management for nearly three decades, rescuing and resurrecting his father Nat Tarnopol's classic soul label of the 1960s and 1970s, Brunswick Records, in the 1990s and releasing a series of classic compilations and novelty music products through his companies Mars Entertainment and Spy Music Group. His history of innovative successes, his continued interest in the cultural phenomena of boy bands, and his ability to capture millions of fans across multiple generations gave him the confidence in 2016 to take over the Menudo brand and form Menudo International, LLC with the purpose of buying the rights to the Menudo brand and reviving the massively popular group concept. Nicolas Calero, Age 12 A Puerto Rican powerhouse, Nicolas began singing Michael Jackson's music at six and was soon attending the School of Rock in Manhattan, developing his vocal talents as well as his skills on the piano, guitar, and drums. While enrolled in School of Rock, he was also working on his formidable dance moves as a tap and ballet student at the prestigious Ailey School, the official school of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, which offers world-class dance training to students ages 3 to 25. Nicolas attended both for two years before joining Menudo. Nicolas is also a talented actor, having appeared on NBC's Law & Order and in the upcoming film Dumb Money with Seth Rogen, Shailene Woodley, Paul Dano, and America Ferrera, who plays his mother. His favorite musical artists include Steven Tyler, Guns N' Roses, and AC/DC.   Ezra Gilmore, Age 14 Always with a larger-than-life personality, Ezra started performing at the age of four at his aunt's wedding, doing a full-out dance to "Uptown Funk." He performed in his first play in second grade, and while falling in love with theater, he also began dancing and singing more formally. While living in the California Bay Area, he performed in numerous musicals at the Mugglebee Theatre & Teambuilding (including Frozen and Annie) and the San Carlos Children's Theater. When Ezra's family moved to Boca Raton, Florida a few years ago, he got an agent and enrolled in the Barclay Performing Arts Acting & Musical Theatre Studio, where he performed in numerous shows, including the role of the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz. He also filmed a commercial for an electric car that plays on the scoreboard at Miami Heat games and on ESPN, which delighted him as a lifelong basketball fan. Ezra has also appeared on three shows for Cartoon Channel, including being a spokesperson for two game shows. He has taken acting, hip hop, and voice classes with Broadway actress and vocal coach Jodie Langel. His musical influences include Bruno Mars, Marc Anthony, and the band AJR. Early in his life, in addition to his acting endeavors, he played basketball for three seasons and his team won the West Boca basketball championship. Ezra is also an avid reader, loves comedy (SNL is one of his favorites), a yo-yo aficionado who loves to perform tricks, and a developing chef (mostly vegan) who specializes in many cuisines. 

Gabriel Rossell, Age 15 Born in Coro, Falcón State, Venezuela, Gabriel began his modeling career at the age of six after his father uploaded photos of him through social media showcasing his attractive personality. In 2017, he was offered his first recording opportunity with a song titled "Cuéntame," whose video received 48,000 views on YouTube. He became a popular and prolific artist in the following years, releasing numerous singles and appearing in ten music videos, as well as singing live with the Falcón Symphony Orchestra in his hometown of Coro. He also performed regularly at schools, parks, and concerts. Gabriel, who moved to the US in 2022, is also a talented soccer and volleyball player whose favorite soccer team is Real Madrid. He has said that when he grows up, he wants to be known as a "singing soccer player." 

Andres Emilio, Age 15 Andrés says he began his acting career mainly for fun, dancing at his sister's quinceañera celebration in Venezuela when he was seven years old. When his family moved to the United States in 2016, he started acting, appearing in a short film and on the nationally broadcast Telemundo TV show "Don Francisco Te Invita" in the segment "¡Soy Yo!" He discovered his innate singing talent when his mother enrolled him in the World of Music Academy near Miami. Andrés was shy when he sang his first song, "Sucker For Pain" from the Suicide Squad soundtrack, but then found his rhythm with "Despacito." He soon discovered a passion for musical theater, classical singing, and opera, and began studying opera at the New World School of the Arts, where he enrolled in the music and choir programs and sang arias. Later, he delved into musical theater at another school, the SAH Conservatory of Dramatic Art, and traveled to Panama to attend the Sono Arte singing academy. Among the musicals in which Andrés has appeared are Fame (the musical), Aladdin, Elf, and Beauty and the Beast, the latter of which he performed at the Manuel Artime Theater in Miami. Andrés is also very interested in sports, and when he was younger, he participated in swimming, learned karate, and played tennis. 

Alejandro Querales, Age 16 Originally from Venezuela, expert in skateboarding as well as rapping and dancing, Alejandro began dancing at the age of four and enrolled in a program at the Anita Vivas Dance Academy in Caracas when he was six. He briefly stopped performing to play soccer, and after his family moved to the United States when he was 11, he spent two years in a musical theater program at the Miami Children's Theatre, where he sang, danced, and acted in the shows Matilda Jr., Frozen Jr., and Aladdin Jr. Later, Andrés attended the SAH Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, performing in three shows (including a Christmas show and Elf) and participating in numerous acting competitions. He is a fan of Pink Pantheress and counts Bruno Mars / Silk Sonic and the rappers Mac Miller and Vince Staples among his favorites. Alejandro performs the rap for the group in "Mi Amore."
